REBUILDING FLORIDA: Shinn Offers 2022 Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition to Benefit Florida Relief Efforts

REBUILDING FLORIDA: Shinn Offers 2022 Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition to Benefit Florida Relief Efforts

The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions has an established reputation for helping those in need by selling charity cars during its events. To assist those recently impacted by Hurricane Ian, Barrett-Jackson will auction a 2022 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Heritage Edition at its 2022 Houston Auction to benefit the Florida Disaster Fund and Samaritan’s Purse.

The car was generously donated by George Shinn, an American businessman best known for his former ownership of several professional sports teams. Shinn dedicates much of his time and resources to helping others; he donated a 2009 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake from his collection to be sold at the 2022 Palm Beach Auction to benefit Samaritan’s Purse and its efforts to help those in need in Ukraine.

Barrett-Jackson has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Florida — The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions has held events in Palm Beach since 2003. Barrett-Jackson is grateful to be a part of the fundraising efforts for those in need in Florida after Hurricane Ian by continuing its tradition of waiving all fees, with 100-percent of the hammer price benefiting organizations helping to rebuild Florida.

The 2022 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Heritage Edition offered will be driven onto the Barrett-Jackson auction block by Shawn Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby and an American racer and entrepreneur. Carroll Shelby modified his Mustang GT350 in 1967 to develop the first-generation Shelby GT500. The car utilized a modified 428ci V8 engine inspired by his team’s 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans in 1966.

Paying homage to the original 1967 Shelby GT500, this limited-production 2022 GT500 Heritage Edition fastback is finished in Brittany Blue with Wimbledon White racing stripes. Ford Performance designed and engineered the 2022 GT500 as the most powerful street-legal Ford ever built, utilizing a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine known as the Predator, rated with 760 horsepower and 625 ft/lbs of torque. It’s paired with a TREMEC 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with race-bred control strategies and advanced drive modes.

The sale of the Heritage Edition GT500 will benefit Samaritan’s Purse and the Florida Disaster Fund. Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to people in need worldwide. Since 1970, the organization has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease and famine. Through its international crisis response efforts following Hurricane Ian’s destruction, Samaritan’s Purse has three Disaster Relief Units in Florida — Fort Myers, Englewood and Punta Gorda—where volunteers are helping those impacted. Samaritan’s Purse Vice President of Operations, Edward Graham, the youngest son of Franklin and Jane Graham and grandson of Billy Graham, will join the car on the block for this philanthropic sale.

The Florida Disaster Fund is Florida’s official private fund established to assist the state’s communities as they respond to and recover from Hurricane Ian. Donations to the Florida Disaster Fund are made to the Volunteer Florida Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Florida Disaster Fund distributes funds to service organizations that serve individuals within their communities through disaster response and recovery.

Barrett-Jackson is honored to provide a charitable platform for this 2022 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Heritage Edition to help those in Florida affected by Hurricane Ian. Lot #3001 will be sold at approximately 4 p.m. CDT on Saturday, October 22, during the 2022 Houston Auction at NRG Center.

Register to bid today to see this special GT500 Heritage Edition cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block and have a chance to support two incredibly important organizations.
