LELAND, N.C. (AP) — An unlucky start out to a North Carolina man’s working day turned upside down when he uncovered he gained a $2 million lottery prize several hours right after hitting two deer with his new car.
Anthony Dowe, of Leland, had an incident on his way to perform, the North Carolina Education and learning Lottery reported in a statement Tuesday. It ruined his working day, so he went back again property, acquired into bed and went to slumber.
“Then I woke up and checked my tickets. I checked the fourth ticket and I saw the ‘4′ and then the next range and the subsequent variety and the upcoming selection,” he claimed. “I’m like, ‘Wow!’ It was just mad.”
His winning Mega Hundreds of thousands ticket matched all 5 white balls. The odds? 1 out of 12.6 million.
Dowe took his ticket to a store and won $1 million. That prize doubled when the 2x Megaplier ticket was drawn.
“I went and showed my father and my mom and everyone was happy,” he explained.
On Monday, he claimed his prize at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh and took household about $1.4 million after taxes.
“It just feels fantastic,” he stated. “I’m just gonna deal with issues on my mother and father’s home and get my car or truck fastened, pay it off, and pay out my niece’s vehicle off.”
The rest, he mentioned, will go into financial savings.
