2024 Ford Mustang photos leak online

The next-generation Mustang is due to launch next year, likely with electrified powertrain options.

The next-generation sports car is due to go into production early next year as an evolution of the current model.

While it does not appear to be dramatically different to the vehicle it replaces, the new images reveal slimmed LED headlights and new air intakes – plus an inset, 3D-effect front grille larger than the one fitted to its predecessor.

The black car below looks to be an entry-level Ecoboost four-cylinder variant – judging by its smaller wheels and tamer air intakes – while the silver car (above) is likely a higher-spec variant.

These show what appears to be 12.3-inch digital cluster behind the steering wheel, and circa-13.2-inch centrally-mounted infotainment screen on the dashboard.

Many of the current car’s physical switches have been swapped out in favour of controls in the infotainment system.

Performance specifications for the new model are so far thin on the ground, however it’s expected electrified powertrain options will be offered for the first time.

International media reports suggest the existing 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 5.0-litre V8 could be hybridised for some markets.  

The existing six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic are likely to be retained as the only transmission options.

The 2024 Ford Mustang is due to go into production early next year, with pricing set to be announced closer to launch.

While an Australian launch is yet to be confirmed, the Mustang is currently the best-selling sports car locally.

In 2021, 2827 examples of the car were reported as sold Down Under – now priced from $52,590 before on-road costs for the entry-level variant.
